The Six Flags Theme Park

Once a lively destination filled with laughter and excitement, the Six Flags theme park in New Orleans now stands abandoned and flooded. This haunting image was taken just weeks after Hurricane Katrina devastated the area in 2005. The aerial view, captured by drone, shows waterlogged rides and ghostly silence, turning a beloved playground into a post-apocalyptic scene.

Though the park was meant to reopen, it never did, leaving nature to slowly reclaim the site. The rusting roller coasters and motionless Ferris wheel serve as solemn reminders of the hurricane’s destruction. It’s a powerful visual of how quickly joy can turn to stillness and how drone photography preserves history in moments of eerie beauty.
