A Bold New Idea
As the sun began to dip, casting a golden hue over the park, Alan turned to me with another unexpected idea. “What do you think about hitting that hiking trail nearby?” he asked casually, as if proposing coffee rather than a physical challenge. My first reaction was disbelief. “You serious?” I asked, the question escaping before I could catch it. He nodded, eyes bright with mischief and determination.
The very suggestion felt wild considering his past, but Alan stood there—composed and ready. His energy didn’t feel impulsive; it felt deliberate, like he had been waiting for this kind of test. I hesitated, unsure if I could keep up with whatever pace he was about to set. But more than anything, I respected his will to push limits. In that moment, my doubt gave way to curiosity. If Alan believed we could do it, maybe it was worth trying.
