Retirees are drawn to Colorado for its majestic mountain views, fresh air, and active lifestyle. The state is known for its health-conscious population, and its outdoor recreation options are second to none.

But living in Colorado isn’t cheap. A growing population and rising housing costs have made it less affordable. Of the state’s 5.9 million residents, nearly 876,000 are 65 or older. The sales tax is relatively low at 2.9%, helping offset some of those expenses.
