Nevada is a tax haven for retirees, with no state income tax and relatively low property taxes. It’s no surprise that nearly half a million seniors—out of a population of 2.9 million—choose to call it home.

Still, the landscape is mostly desert, and the climate can be extreme, with very hot summers and chilly winters. While cities like Las Vegas offer plenty of entertainment, rural areas may feel isolated to some.
