Florida is practically synonymous with retirement, and for good reason. With 4.7 million seniors among its 22.2 million residents, it’s tailor-made for older adults. Beaches, golf courses, and warm weather abound, though summer tourism can get overwhelming and many towns have lost their quaint charm.
Still, the financial appeal is strong. There’s no state income tax, and the sales tax is 6%. If you know where to look, you can still find peaceful pockets of “Old Florida” that offer a quieter retirement.
