Utah is a visual stunner with its red rock landscapes, national parks, and mix of deserts and forests. Retirees who love nature and outdoor adventure will find plenty to do here.

However, taxes are higher than one might expect. Utah ranks 15th in tax burden nationwide, and its 6.1% sales tax is only part of the equation. About 2.7 million people live in the state, with just over 315,000 being seniors.
