Freshen Your Breath With Pee
Today, a spritz of minty mouthwash is enough to feel fresh after a garlicky meal. But in the 18th century, people had a far more revolting solution—urine. Thanks to its ammonia content, it was believed to disinfect the mouth and whiten teeth.
This practice wasn’t new; even the ancient Romans swore by it. But while it may have worked in theory, the thought of rinsing with pee is enough to make anyone gag today. Thankfully, we’ve come a long way in oral hygiene.
