#44: My Mother the Car (1965-1966)

Jerry Van Dyke shone as attorney Dave Crabtree in “My Mother the Car,” a unique sitcom that aired from September 14, 1965, to April 5, 1966. The show followed Crabtree’s discovery that his deceased mother had been reincarnated as a 1928 Porter automobile, communicating with him through the car’s radio.

Despite its inventive premise, the absence of a laugh track left audiences disconnected from the intended humor, and it wasn’t deemed to be a very popular or even very clever show. And therefore, made it on this list.
