Just uncovered my old cell phone — complete with a clip-on chatboard for “easy” texting. And by easy, I mean wildly inconvenient but very cool-looking in 2003. This plastic keyboard snapped onto the phone like a Transformer and turned T9 into a full QWERTY adventure. It added bulk, confusion, and pure joy to every “LOL” and “BRB.”
Sure, each key was the size of a grain of rice and texting took 3 minutes per sentence, but we felt like tech gods. Who needs touchscreens when you’ve got buttons, creaky hinges, and the thrilling risk of accidentally pocket-emailing your boss?
