This might look like a rare sight, but it’s equally bizarre and humorous. As improbable as it seems, these situations do happen. The boat in this picture is called a “Sloop.” In ancient times, it was the most common type of pirate ship, designed to sail very fast, with the mast extending towards the water’s surface.
A modern sloop refers to a yacht with a single mast, a jib sail (foresail) in the front, and a mainsail. Most sloops use a Bermuda rig or a gaff rig. This is a method called a “fore-and-aft rig,” where the sails are positioned diagonally to the wind. Sloops can also be classified as cutters or cut boats depending on the style and number of foresails.
