The Vibrating Chair
Popular in wellness spas, this chair vibrated vigorously to stimulate circulation and “shake off” excess fat. Users sat still while the chair did all the work.
Though appealing as a passive workout, the vibrations caused dizziness, back pain, and discomfort for many. Without any real muscle engagement, it was little more than a fancy seat. Today, vibration therapy is used under controlled conditions, but this chair is remembered as a gimmick with little benefit.
