Eagle’s Dung Was Used to Relieve Childbirth Pain
Childbirth has always been painful, but during the Middle Ages, pain relief came in bizarre forms. One supposed remedy involved smearing eagle droppings mixed with rosewater onto a woman’s thighs during labor.
Midwives swore by it, hoping it would ease the birth process. Whether it actually helped is doubtful—but the smell alone must have made things worse.
