No Choice Left


Jackie could feel the eyes around her as she began nursing her baby. It wasn’t something she wanted to do in public, but when her infant started crying uncontrollably, she knew there was no other way. As soon as he latched, the screaming stopped. It was quiet again, but the silence was heavy with judgment. Still, Jackie remained calm and focused on her child. She had to finish what she started, no matter how many people stared.

While all this happened, the waitress kept glancing over at Jackie and Tom. Something about the family had caught her attention, and it seemed she had something more on her mind. She didn’t speak, but her expression held a certain understanding. Jackie didn’t know yet that this woman was planning to make a small gesture that would soon change the entire tone of their evening.
