36. The Parrot That Outsmarted a Burglar
In Brazil, a parrot trained to mimic police sirens and shouting was left home alone during a break-in. When the intruder crept inside, the bird let loose a loud “Freeze! Police!” followed by siren noises so convincing that the thief panicked and ran—straight into a parked patrol car responding to a neighbor’s call.
The parrot, nicknamed “Detective Beaky,” received local fame and a mountain of sunflower seeds. Police called him the most cooperative witness they’d ever worked with. The homeowner now proudly says his house has “feathers and firearms—guess which one works better.”
