IT’S ALL IN THE DETAILS
Dain Yoon, a classically trained painter, turns traditional painting on its head: Instead of canvas, she uses her skin – right down to the tiniest detail. While Van Gogh expressed himself with swirls of color, Yoon precisely paints micro-details, as seen here on the earlobe and cheekbone.
On the small area around the tragus, she paints a fully conceived face: tiny eyebrows, fine nasal folds, even the hint of a smile. Every brushstroke, every shade is positioned with millimeter precision to complete the optical illusion. It’s astonishing to see how many fine details she could create on such a small area, considering that almost every eyebrow hair represents its own brushstroke.
