It might sound like a joke, but Air Force One has another purpose besides being the President’s personal plane. It also serves as a mobile command center in the event of an emergency like 9/11. It allows the President to travel while possessing all the means of communication necessary to carry out the duties of the office. The Flying White House is actually quite well-equipped.
