Sidu River Bridge (China)
The Sidu River Bridge in China was the first extra-large suspension bridge built in a mountainous area within the country. It’s 1365m long, and its height above the ground is equivalent to a 200-story building. You might be wondering, “How did they build such a huge bridge?” Well, they initially used rockets to carry the cable to the other side. You might think a helicopter would be more efficient, but due to the construction location, that wasn’t possible, so they opted for the rocket method.
This method has two advantages. One is that there’s no cost of using a helicopter, and the other is that it saves time. By the way, it only took 3.6 seconds to reach the other side. It’s certainly etched a new page in the world’s bridge construction history. It would feel great to drive through with the car windows fully open. Anyway, China’s nature is just “THE Vast.”
