Aiguille du Midi (France)

The Aiguille du Midi is a mountain in the Mont Blanc massif within the French Alps. The name Aiguille du Midi apparently means “needle of the midday” or “midday peak.” The reason is that the sun appears to sit on the summit of this mountain at noon. Near the summit of the Aiguille du Midi, there’s a short bridge, known as a spectacular spot with a 360-degree panoramic view. You might think mountain summits are the exclusive domain of climbers, but actually, it’s easily accessible – a 20-minute cable car ride from the town at the foot of the mountain.

So, as long as you take measures against the cold, you can enjoy the stunning view with relatively simple equipment. By the way, there’s an observation deck with a completely glass floor in the mountain-top hut, so brave souls might want to take a peek. You can experience a strange sensation as if you were suspended in mid-air.
