Marienbrücke (Germany)
The Marienbrücke (also known as Queen Mary’s Bridge) is a unique bridge known as one of the most famous spots for tourists wanting to snap a photo of Neuschwanstein Castle. This pedestrian bridge provides some of the best views of Neuschwanstein Castle and is able to support quite a few pedestrians. According to locals and tourists, the hike itself is about 45 minutes, so be warned that it can be tiring.
Furthermore, the bridge itself is considered a significant historical structure. The Marienbrücke was designed by Heinrich Gottfried Gerber, a prominent engineer who not only designed this bridge but also designed the world’s first modern cantilever bridge. Queen Mary’s Bridge also stands out for its hingeless arch design and construction as early as 1866. To this day, the bridge retains its historical integrity, with most of the arches remaining intact, as well as plaques from builders and engineers, and original railings. It is also well-maintained.
