Mandatory Weekly “Do Nothing” Hour
Every Tuesday at 4PM, an Amsterdam consulting firm enforces “The Hour of Nothing.” No phones. No laptops. No talking. Employees can nap, stare out the window, draw, or literally lie on the floor and vibe. Working is strictly prohibited.
Initially met with eye-rolls, the policy became a favorite. Creativity flourished, burnout dipped, and some staff even reported better sleep patterns. Management says doing nothing is now their most productive idea—ironically discovered while doing exactly that.
