Eagle Dung Was Used to Ease Labor Pains
Giving birth has always been painful, but in the Middle Ages, the methods for alleviating that pain were quite bizarre. One of these involved smearing eagle dung mixed with rosewater on the woman’s thighs during labor.
Midwives swore by this remedy, hoping to ease the process. Whether it actually helped is debatable, but the smell certainly didn’t improve the experience.
