Electric Shocker
The 1970s version of muscle stimulation took things even further. Electric shockers looked like they belonged in a mad scientist’s lab. Wires dangled everywhere, zapping different parts of your body while you just sat there hoping not to fry your organs.
It was marketed as the future of fitness. But results were nonexistent, and side effects were, well, shocking. Aside from twitching uncontrollably, users reported bruises and terrifying palpitations. The FDA stepped in eventually, and thankfully, these shockers were retired before anyone tried using one while standing in a bathtub.
